About DOTY Judges

The panel comprises several industry influencers who bring vast experience from their respective industries. Each judge’s area of expertise offers a unique take on the judging criteria, which will contribute to the overall judging criteria such as creativity, design concept, space planning and design statement.

Credible Judges

Judges are selected based on their experience, credibility and leadership role in their respective industries. All judges are decision makers of their own design in business – be it hospitality, beverage, retail, service or product – and they keep abreast of consumers’ wants and needs in the market.

All judging is implemented and recorded to demonstrate accountability. We take stringent and painful measures to ensure a proper outcome of the judging process. Nothing is being taken for granted as we view DOTY as an important ingredient in the design industry.

Authentic Judging

The judging process is done in a professional manner through discussions and a point system at an official venue. All inputs from the judging will enable us to improve the scoring system to reflect a better and fairer result.

Industry Recognition

DOTY is a media-based design industry award that appeals to consumers nationwide and internationally. It sets a precedent to recognise outstanding designers in the field of design.

2023 Judges

Mai Chongchaiyo

Joining the Steve Leung Design Group back in 2017, Mai Chongchaiyo was promoted just a year later to lead a talented multicultural team of designers to create imaginative, experience-oriented designs — covering show flats, hotels, serviced apartments, restaurants and bars — which exquisitely integrates his global vision with a deep sensitivity for local context and cultures.

Duangrit Bunnag

The brainchild behind some of Bangkok’s urban and riverside regeneration projects — The Jam Factory, The Never Ending Summer and Warehouse 30 — and award-winning hotels such as Hotel de la Paix in Laos and The Naka Phuket in Thailand, Ar Duangrit Bunnag is sometimes referred to as The Land of Smiles’ “hottest architect.”

Alan Koh

With a remarkable 30-year track record in the real estate and hospitality sectors, distinguished Singaporean entrepreneur Alan Koh spends his days overseeing the opulent 5-star Star Suites serviced apartment in KLCC while spearheading an organisation laser focused in presenting the trendy fusion dining experience of Mi Omakase to the people of Kota Kinabalu.

Alex Cheah

Simultaneously running an engineering firm and a lifestyle hospitality group that currently owns 1 Michelin Star restaurant and 1 Michelin Selected restaurant is certainly no easy feat, but for Alex Cheah, he revels in the process of overcoming challenge after challenge to achieve absolute success, just like his critically acclaimed, variously diverse restaurants scattered across the competitive city of Kuala Lumpur: Beta KL, Skillet@163 and Burnt & Co.

Shanaz A Muztaza

A loyal member of the Fairview Group of Companies, Shanaz A Muztaza has been serving as the Director of the Fairview Development Sdn Bhd since 2015. Moreover, the Immediate Past Chairlady of REHDA Youth is now concurrently bustling away as the Chairlady of REHDA Selangor’s Events, Publications and Communication (EPC).
